About 3/4ths of the soundtrack is just taken from the original game, with a few tunes from Kingdom Hearts II thrown in as well. This may be for the best as what little voice acting there is was rather low quality, with many of the actors sounding like they were uninterested in coming back for more. It's pretty clear most of the assets are just recycled from the first game, and many of the cutscenes are done without voices. This pacing absolutely kills the game, and it's a shame that there are interesting and important elements buried in here.Įqually as weak as the story is Re: Chain of Memories' presentation. ![]() Every time it feels like Re:Chain of Memories' plot is going to pick up you'll have to sit through another one of Sora's old adventures. It feels lazy, and more importantly, it interrupts the actually interesting stuff. Sora's gang revisits almost every single world from the first game (with the noticeable and weird exception of the Tarzan based Deep Jungle) and relives the events they went through. Unfortunately, it's constantly interrupted by what amounts to little more than a clip show. Jeeze, I wonder if this guy is evil or not. Many important plot elements from future games find their first appearances here, and the overarching plot is actually pretty interesting. Worse, Castle Oblivion has the unfortunate side effect that it causes its inhabitants to lose their memories. It's here where they must relive most of their memories from the first game to reach the top of the castle, all while dealing with the new threat in the form of Organization XIII. The trio comes across Castle Oblivion during their adventure. Re:Chain of Memories picks up directly where the first game leaves off, with Sora, Donald, and Goofy searching for their lost friends. Nobody cards are encounters you can play onto your opponents to make things more difficult for them. Ally cards are played next to your Hero and discarded after their effect is used. Other items are discarded after use, similar to magic cards, which are spells that can be played from your hand to help you with encounters. You can only use Keyblade effect at a time. Treasure has item cards such as “Keyblades” which can be used to gain extra power. If a player loses an Encounter, they lose all points (but still keep the treasure). If a player chooses to not go any further into the encounter, then they acquire as many points as what stage they are on. A Hero may go to as many stages as they want, one at a time. So if a Hero beats stage 2, they receive 2 Treasure. For every Encounter beat, an equal amount of Treasure is gained based on stage. ![]() If the 1d6 is equal to or higher than the encounter, then the Hero wins the encounter, acquiring a Treasure card! The Hero then may go to stage 2, which is 2 Encounter cards. This is the encounter they must face by rolling 1d6. Place 1 card from the shuffled Encounter deck in front of player 1. This world will also add an effect, affecting all players! Each Hero has an affect that will change the play style of your game.Ī World is determined at random.
